Xpresso Task Pane

View commands in tabbed groups

The Xpresso task pane shows available commands in tabbed groups similar to SolidWorks' command manager. Select a command group such as Sketch, View, Sheet metal, or Drawing to see what commands are available in your current SolidWorks context. Select All to see the full list of active commands. See more task pane features below.

Numbers New

You asked for it, you got it: Now enter simple equations, units, and numbers verbally. For example, Extrude. 10 inches plus 5 millimeters. Ok. It's that quick. You can enter numbers (fractions, decimals, and whole numbers), units (feet, inches, millimeters, centimeters, and kilometers), and equations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).

Suspend listening feature New

There are times when you want to suspend your work to do something else or speak within range of your microphone, but don't want recognition. When listening is suspended, Xpresso will not accept verbal commands. You can toggle Suspend listening with the toolbar icon, select or deselect it in the Xpresso dropdown menu, and turn it on and off in the Xpresso task pane Options tab.

Customize your commands

Xpresso Command Editor

By popular demand, you may now call it what you want. Change the spoken phrase Xpresso listens for to your preferred phrase. Suppress commands you never use or hide commands you already know and don't need to see in the task pane.

Command list Enhanced

commands

Xpresso give you access to over 650 voice commands which are standard SolidWorks commands. Saying a command rather than selecting the same command with a mouse eliminates hunting through toolbars, menus and icons. If you don't know which commands are available for use in your context, click on the handy Task Pane for a command-grouped list and tool tips to help.

Xpress commands

In addition to over 650 SolidWorks® commands, Xpresso introduces a new concept in productivity: Xpress commands. Each Xpress command combines several standard actions into one quick and easy voice command. Use simple phrases such as mate coincident, cut through all, Xpress cylinder, and 70 more to create the fundamental building blocks of parts faster than ever! Some commands save 8 or more mouse clicks.

Improved command filtering Enhanced

Suppressed, hidden, and active commands

Context referencing means Xpresso only listens for commands that make sense, which means you don't spend hours training like with other speech recognition software. As little as ten minutes of training and you will be telling SolidWorks® what to do. Literally.

Xpress mates

Build assemblies faster than ever with Xpress mates. Simply click the parts then tell SolidWorks® the mate you want. Try mate coincident, mate perpendicular, or mate parallel.

Xpress change units

Change the units of a dimension in an instant. Simply select the dimension, say the unit you want and Xpresso changes it for you. Using decmials and need fractions? Sixteenths. Need to change from feet to meters? Meters. It's that simple.
